Robert Plant and Alison Krauss – Raising Sand (MUSIC)

Every now and again a record comes along that gets everything right. A record that is just so well crafted and has so much heart it inspires everyone that listens to it. ‘Raising Sand’ is such a record. It is a gentle album, with subtle nuances and a chemistry that you would not have expected from the queen of bluegrass and the lead vocalist of Led Zeppelin.

And that’s all I’ve got. That is how far I am with writing this piece. This cult album defies a category and makes it impossible to write a half decent review that could do it justice. I could run you through a track listing, jot down a quick bio of these two unlikely partners or complement T Bone Burnett on the production. Or I could mention the fact that I would sell something dear to me to jump on a plane and see this tour. It just won’t do at all.

I am stumped, to tell you the truth.
